A Few Marketing Terms You Should Know.

Updated: 4 days ago

Inbound Marketing is a business methodology that attracts customers by creating valuable content and experiences tailored to the individual.

While outbound marketing interrupts your audience with content they don’t want, inbound marketing forms connections with your prospects and customers already looking for solutions to their problems.

Marketing Terms you should know

What is Email Marketing?

In its broadest sense, every email sent to a potential or current customer could be considered email marketing. It usually involves using email to send ads, request business, or solicit sales or donations, and is meant to build loyalty, trust, or brand awareness.

What is Marketing Automation?

Marketing automation refers to the software that exists with the goal of automating marketing actions. Many marketing departments need to automate repetitive tasks such as emails, social media, and other website actions. The technology of marketing automation makes these tasks easier.

What is Content Marketing?

Content marketing is a marketing program that centers on creating, publishing, and distributing content for your target audience -- usually online -- the goal of which is to attract new customers. The most common elements include social media networks, blogs, visual content, and premium content assets -- like tools, ebooks, or webinars.

What is a Call-to-Action (CTA)?

A call-to-action (CTA) is an image or line of text that prompts your visitors, leads, and customers to take an action (download a piece of content, register for an event, take a survey...). A CTA can be used anywhere in your marketing -- on your website, in an ebook, in an email, or even at the end of a blog post.

What is Demand Generation?

The goal of demand generation is to build and nurture the long-term relationship with key prospects and customers. Common tactics include blogs, social media, videos, podcasts, newsletters, and ebooks -- content-driven resources that establish your company as a thought leader, influencer, and information hub in your industry.

What is Lead Nurture?

Lead nurturing is the process of engaging a defined target group by providing relevant information at each stage of the buyer’s journey, positioning your company as the best (and safest) choice to enable your prospect to achieve their objectives.

An effective nurturing process actively moves your prospects through your marketing and lead generation efforts, through a sales development process to the point where they become paying customers.

What is the Buyer's Journey?

The buyer’s journey is the process buyers go through to become aware of, evaluate, and purchase a new product or service. The journey is a three-step process:

  • Awareness Stage: The buyer realizes they have a problem.

  • Consideration Stage: The buyer defines their problem and researches options to solve it.

  • Decision Stage: The buyer chooses a solution.
